Resumo

La educación media ha sufrido numerosos cambios con la llegada de nuevas y accesibles tecnologías a los salones de clases. La necesidad de contar con herramientas informáticas que permitan a los estudiantes integrar los grandes cúmulos de información que se distribuyen a través de ellas para desarrollar así un pensamiento crítico y constructivista es aún un asunto difícil de resolver. El objetivo del presente trabajo es demostrar que los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG) pueden ser una de esas herramientas. A través del desarrollo de un proyecto SIG para una clase de Historia en el nivel de educación media se intentará evaluar las ventajas y desventajas de su uso, así como también determinar la percepción de los estudiantes sobre la información presentada con la aplicación.
