Abstract

En este trabajo se analizan las transformaciones experimentadas por el campo de dunas de Maspalomas (Gran Canaria, Islas Canarias) desde 1960 hasta la actualidad. La metodología utilizada ha combinado el uso de fotogramas aéreos, imágenes de satélite y trabajo de campo. Los resultados obtenidos ponen de manifiesto que, a lo largo de este periodo, se han reducido los aportes de sedimentos hacia el campo de dunas, coincidiendo con el desarrollo turístico. El déficit de arena se ha traducido en la fijación de dunas, el incremento de las áreas de deflación, la reducción de la altura de las dunas y el alejamiento del primer cordón transversal respecto a la línea de playa.
